Revolution Autumn Menu | Review






On Sunday I had the pleasure of attending my first ever blogger event! I was super nervous at first, and although I had nothing to be worried about, the “first time” nerves just couldn’t be stopped! I also still don't consider myself a blogger per se, I thought that title was only meant for the big guns with thousands of page views?! So those thoughts didn't help me at all!


Luckily a few other bloggers I met where there for the first time too, so it was nice to have others there to experience it with! We were also treated with the most glorious weather. The sun was shining, we were outside on the terrace and they didn’t even have to put the heaters on! October in Scotland! That is just not heard of! It felt like we were in the middle of a sun-drenched city, not in a place which is known for its grey-ness!

The lovely Julia had got in touch regarding a brand new menu being launched at the highly popular Revolution Bar on Belmont Street. Along with sampling the bar’s autumn cocktail menu we were able to preview their 6 new and delicious pizzas.


I used to go to Revolution A LOT when I was younger, it would be the first place we would head on a Friday and Saturday night. I had forgotten about the range of drinks they had on offer! Everything from pitchers, shots, cocktails and mocktails, their menu surely has something for everyone. Nowadays I’m more likely to head to Rev, as it is affectionately known, for its food. I have never been disappointed and again the variety of meals on offer will suit even the pickiest of eaters.

Now onto the fun bit...cocktails.


To be honest, the choice was intimidating as everything just sounded so darn delicious. Loving a gimmick and an opportunity for a cute photo I started off with rum based It's A Rum Ting. I had had Ting and vodka before and was excited to try it out with a different liquor. 

Sailor Jerry and Wray & Nephew rums with a dash of passion fruit puree and finished with some fizzy Ting this drink is the perfect way to hold on to the last bit of summer. Drinking this you can imagine yourself sitting on a Caribbean beach soaking up the sun and listening to the sound of the tide going in and out....a girl can dream!




After it went down a little too quickly I opted for the vodka based Ketel Kooler.
This fruity concoction of Ketel One Vodka, Licor 43, guave puree, watermelon syrup and Red Bull Orange Edition would be the perfect way to cool down after a warm day in the office. It's sweet taste reminded me of a Refresher sweetie so it was right up my street.




My choice of cocktails has made me realise that I am certainly not ready for the winter days and nights. Bring me back sunshine (even though we did't have much this year!) and blue skies any day!

To soak up the booze 6 newly cooked up pizzas landed on our table.

Fresco
Cured ham, feta, kalamata olives, fresh smoked mozzarella, balsamic onions rocket and olive oil.

Lamb Baba Ganoush
Ground lamb, baba gnash, rose harissa, fresh mozzarella, feta, creme fraiche, coriander and pomegranate.

The Beet Goes On (v)
Artichoke puree, goat's cheese, beetroot, fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, basil and parmesan. 

Asian Satay Chicken Pizza
Pulled chicken, homemade satay sauce, peppers, mozzarella, cucumber, spring onions, coriander and lime.

The Hot Italian Pizza
Pepperoni, cured ham, roquito peppers, garlic mushrooms, tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and rocket.

Margherita
Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil.  









Perfect for sharing and the variety of flavours was impressive. Not a pineapple and ham pizza to be seen! 

Overall it was a huge success, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was lovely to meet the bloggers local to Aberdeen, especially when I had spoken to a few on social media. Always nice to put a face to a name! 

Revolution is always a hit with everyone who goes, and the buzz about the place is a good example of its popularity. There was a live DJ on the terrace who provided a great backdrop to the event too. 

I am looking forward to going back to Rev soon, and trying even more of its yummy beverages!
